A thought that keeps hitting me (okay only twice, but it hit HARD)..

is that while our God is patient, loving, merciful, and full of grace... It doesn't give us any right to treat God like dirt.

You know what I mean?

Sometimes, we (yes, WE. not they) run away and expect God, in His grace and mercy, to draw us back to Himself. We wait for Him to take the action, to somehow lure us back to himself. We say, "if God really loves me, He'll come to me."

And you know what?

More often than not, He does.

And that's plain unfair.

Not that I'm complaining that God is full of grace, because I myself am a recipient of that grace. Still, I don't think it gives us any right to take advantage of that.

Afterall, God is God. Just think about it. BIG SCARY GOD. He's not scary because He's mean or anything. He's not. But the sheer magnitude of who He is. His power, His majesty, His glory. It's... bone shaking.

Yes, God is loving, and He stoops down for us. But that doesn't make us greater than Him.

Ultimately, we are still human.

I guess the solution to this is to actually realise that the floodgates of God's grace and mercy are only opened when we turn and repent.

Not before.

We can't run away from God and just expect Him to force us back into church "if He truly loves us"

LKC Camp over.

Bondue Camp tomorrow.

I really besssst. Was supposed to go for pre-bondue dinner at cathay today at 6:30 but I completely overslept!!! A hour-long nap became a 6 hour nap :/

anyway, LKC camp was GREAT(:

FTB got so pwned.

Met really awesome people, and i think i know about 90% of the scholars. They are a really fun bunch and aren't all as nerdy as people make scholars out to be (: I think they're actually cooler than the average smu person. heheheh. who needs bondue camp to get to know people.

Anyway, lemme tell you why LKC is so AWESOME. It's just a super super slack camp with lots of food(: it's almost like holiday i tell you. We had pizza for lunch, then some really nice buffet at this VIP room in cineleisure cinema. 2nd day! breakfast was rochor road tau hui with you tiao, lunch was lim boon teck (or something like that) chicken rice, dinner was aston's (: Supper was even more aston's and lots of macdonalds, courtesy of our awesome faci crunch :D

besides the food, lots of slack time with many fun people (: just hanging around, talking crap, discussing our crazy messed up fairy tale skit, and playing stupid games. last night before breakcamp was awesome. We did chair races all around the third level, then played stupid and HTHT games in a group study group later. It was kindda fun hearing people's histories, and sharing my philosophies on bgr. ahahaha.

more importantly, i think i found people i was supposed to find. this will be an interesting year(:

BONDUE TOMORROW. time to watch people get drunk and do crazy things. i think i'll just go find jeanne and henry, go drink milo or something. zzz.

ok(: now about the programmes and stuff. THE BAND WAS AWESOME. ahaha. Aviom rocks my socks. The orchestra was really good too!! Sharon's flute and Grace Teo's violin sounded awesome. (the rest sounded good too, just that i particularly noticed it when these two instruments were solo-ing) And the choir has improved a lot :D i like. hahaha.

I was like.. uhmm.. semi-crying. ahaha. Ok, not crying per se. More of tearing. I KNOW, it's still very cmi. But aiyah. I suddenly realised the weight that is upon the shoulders of us young people. The older generation has gone before us and left behind a legacy. They have lived through so much more than us, experienced so much more trials and temptations, and come out victorious. And it's just.. staggering. We think we've gone through a lot. but we're only.. what. 20+ max? Could I/we take another 20 years of harder and harder trials, and still come out faithful?

Sometimes I wonder if tm412/Frontline Youth was a stand-alone youth group, would we grow up to be like today's bartley christian church? Would we be able to rise up? Would we answer the call and reach the world around us? Would we eventually grow to become a thousand strong? Or will we just "maintain" the same numbers until we hit our 40s and 50s?

They answered the call.

Oh yes!! THE DANCE TEAM. They did really fantastic today man!! Last time, dance was just.. dance to me. but today they were really really rocking. hahaha. Ok, besides the awesome dancers (like yimin), the meaning of the dance was there. And the song choice was fantastic too! Dancing to praise him(: I like a lot.

With all the young people rising up to serve God, and a new awesome building with lots and lots of gadgets, I'm pretty excited to see where Bartley will go in the next few years (:

it feels really nice to be home. what makes singapore, singapore. serene and quiet roads. nice big houses. carpeted floors. friends smiles.

anyway, been catching up on blogs over the last 30mins. why are kids here so emo ah :/ or maybe it's just because they have an avenue to express it. BUT IT'S OKAY. cos God's the solution (: so i'll do my best to be his tool wherever i go, and see lives changed for his glory.

the last two months has been incredible. i have really become accustomed to life over there. loud horns every 5 seconds. mountains wherever you turn your eyes too. awesome cute kids outside the school. sigh. but what's more important is that lives that i managed to interact with and the lessons that i've learnt.

this isn't going to be some long post or what (partially because i didn't journal like chris and ian) but... i guess what was really impressed on me was the need to be frontline. THIS is the frontline. school, family, church. broken lives that needs to be healed by jesus's power. the power of his restoring love and grace. there IS no "i need a break" or "they'll be fine, i need to worry about my own problems too". driven by the brokeness of the people around, i cannot sit silent when i have the ultimate cure in me.

hur hur, frontline youth (: ironic that as we're about to change the name, then i truly get what it means to be frontline.

i'm also learning to take it slow :D i'm just gonna ignore the fast paced life over here in singapore. with so many choices everywhere, we just wanna do everything and not miss out on anything. but in reality... we can't. but that's okay. we pick what's important. like, God, family, studies, friends, etc. and of course in appropriate amounts(: we don't have to burn out trying to do everything because we'll feel like the world is moving on without us if we don't. yeah... chillax is the key (:

i kindda miss ah yi. and all the other kiddies too. AND CLIMBING MOUNTAINS WITH THEM.

today was best. had a new haircut :) i like!

JUMPING IN WORSHIP. contrary to what i've heard a lot of people say, i'm sorry. i don't think songs like bounce and tribe of praise (that's the pump your fist) are just songs to hype you up.

That's what I thought on the first night of worship, but after spending a few days at LOUDFEST, i've gained a new perspective(: (and whoever didn't go.. you guys missed out big time. especially you cheapos who only went for the night. SAD FOR YOU. THE DAYS WAS AWESOME. )

jumping in worship is a genuine expression of worship. it's not just a youth culture thing. In the book of Ephesians.. Paul mentioned over 30 times that we are IN GOD. In God, is entheos in greek. and entheos is the word that we get ENTHUSIASM from. interesting?(: What does being enthusiastic mean? How about.. Raving? Overboard? Crazy?

Friends, we should be excited. i know this doesn't refer to everyone, but for you reading this right now.. just think about something/someone you really love right now. for example, if i really love john mayer, i would go absolutely nuts if i saw him and he played some sick solo. absolute bananas. (i would. haha.) but anyway, if we can give john mayer (or whoever or whatever) that kind of praise, how can we give Jesus any less?

I mean, come on. Jesus?! Our Saviour?! Our best friend?! King of Kings?! Lord of Lords?! AWESOMEST GUY EVER?!?!?!

all across the bible, old AND new testament, people worshipped God by jumping, leaping, and dancing with joy. and why shouldn't we? We have the GOOD news. don't we? (: it's not bad news. it's GOOD news. come on! let's CELEBRATE it!! let's jump around, and dance, and celebrate God's goodness:D i would go a bit more and talk about the different greek/hebrew words for worship, but i'm lazy to google it now. u can check it out if you want ;) but dancing, singing, shouting, are just a few forms of worship refered to in the Bible! yeah, google it.

pumping your fist? i dunno if that's biblical, but it sure is about victory and war. i mean listen to the song again. (follow the link on top, tribe of praise) check out the lyrics, we are going out to make a change in this world with the power of God upon us!! This is spiritual warfare, friends. and we have victory in Jesus Christ! why shouldn't we pump our hands in the air? (: we're pumping it in victory. (incidentally, "conversative" christians do pump their fists in worship from time to time. just that it's during hyms. but yeah!)

i think Jesus deserves the maximum praise!! Yes, there is a place for meditation, reverent awe, and all that. but i also think there is a time and place for celebration and victory! right? (: there's is a place on it all. we should really learn to celebrate God's goodness. because He is good!!

"This year when I was in South Africa, my son Jaedon was approached by a friend who asked him a very interesting question. (Jaedon was two and a half at the time and he had been wearing a tracksuit top with the word 'LEGEND' on the back.) My friend said, 'Jaedon, are you a legend?' Jaedon thought about it for a while and then replied, 'No, I'm a spaceship!' We laughed, but it got me thinking......

Jaedon was wearing clothes that labelled him, in this case, as a 'legend'. My friend confirmed what the clothing said, and asked Jaedon if it was indeed true that he was a legend.

In life, so many things label you. Your clothes label you as something; people label you as something else (through their words and actions towards you). In that one small profound moment, Jaedon decided that he wasn't going to be what his clothes said he was and he certainly wasn't going to be labelled or defined by what someone called him. He wasn't having any of it. He wasn't a legend, he was a SPACESHIP!

When I was in school, I was bullied for several years. I began to think and act like a victim. It became a habit to me. I was used to thinking like a victim. I was used to behaving like a victim. But God helped me to see that I was NOT THAT man! I was able to throw off a label (bullied) that had contained me for a long time, and I was able to live a different life.

In the Bible, Jesus helps us to see that we need not be labelled or defined by things that have contained us! Maybe you have been labelled by your past, the future, your emotional or mental state, regrets, fears or failures. Jesus says, 'I have come that (you) may have life, and have it to the full.'

The story of Jesus is all about how He came to prove that only He could give FULL, MAXIMUM, ABUNDANT life.' He proved it by doing miracles (impossible feats that only God could perform).

There are over 30 distinct miracles that Jesus accomplished; one of the most famous is that he healed a man with leprosy. That man had been known as 'The man with leprosy' for a long time. He was defined by his leprosy, yet in a moment Jesus took away the very thing that labelled him. He was no longer 'The man with leprosy.' He was now to be known as....... 'The man'.

Similarly, when Jesus raised 'the dead girl' to life. She changed her label and now became, 'the girl.'

We read about 'The deaf and mute man,' who became 'the man'. Also 'The paralysed man' who became 'the man.' Don't forget 'The boy with the evil spirit' who became 'the boy' or 'the crippled woman' became 'the woman.'

For each of these people, Jesus took off their label. He changed the thing that contained them and helped them to really live life the way it was meant to be lived.

The great miracle of Jesus for you is that you no longer need to live your life defined and labelled. You are no longer dysfunctional, fat, a loser, forgotten, rich, poor, smart, stupid, black, white, the son of your father or daughter of your mother, a widow, alone. You are no longer just the result of life's circumstance. You are now:

The man, the woman, the kid, the boy, the girl.

When Jesus says, 'I've come to give you life to the full', it means that you are no longer defined by what's happened, but rather 'whose' you are!

The Bible says in John 1:12, 'To all who receive Him, to those who believe in Him, He gave the right to become the children of God!' Who are you? If you say yes to God, you become a child of God and that means that God gives you the power to become the person He destined you to be. Instead of life defining you, you are now able to bring definition to life.

You are not a legend, you are a spaceship! "
